Start your hockey journey in our Learn to Skate classes. Nail down the fundamental skating techniques and skills for hockey players in a fun environment.

Introductory Learn To Play Hockey Program for 4 to 9 year-olds sponsored by the Pittsburgh Penguins and the National Hockey League (NHL). Little Penguins is an all-inclusive program, making it the perfect first step to learn fundamental skills on and off the ice! Completion of Take a Shot at Hockey, Learn to Skate or a similar Learn to Play program at another rink's equivalent is required for enrollment. One class per week, 8-week program.

Equipment is available through the Little Penguins registration supported by Dick's Sporting Goods. This program is offered to first-time players only.

Sign up for Rookie 1 and receive FREE GEAR!! Each gear bag includes a stick, helmet with cage, jersey, and full equipment except skates (rental skates available for use). The Rookie Program introduces players to shooting, passing, stickhandling and other fundamental skills.

It’s time to transfer your skills to game play! The Rookie League format includes both game play and practice drills at each session. Learn team concepts and continue developing your skating and stick skills!

Sign up for tryouts and showcase your skills! Join a travel team and compete all season (approximately September through February) against other clubs in your region in weekly games and practices. Play for a championship in the end of the season playoffs!

The Youngstown Phantoms are part of the United States Hockey League (USHL). The USHL is the country's top junior hockey league, classified as Tier I. Prior to the 2009 season, the Phantoms were a member of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) for six seasons.The Phantoms have seen over 150 players commit to NCAA Division I schools, and 29 Phantom Players have been drafted into the NHL. Multiple alumni have signed NHL contracts including Brett Murray, Scott Mayfield, Jiri Sekac, Andrej Sustr, Nathan Walker and Kyle Connor.The Youngstown Phantoms are co-owned by Bruce Zoldan and Murry Gunty. Zoldan is CEO of Phantom Fireworks; America's largest fireworks company. Gunty is the founder and CEO of Black Bear Sports Group, Inc.The Phantoms produce top talent on and off the ice. Phantoms' players are very active in the Mahoning Valley, and can be found giving back on a regular basis by reading in schools or teaching youth hockey players. The Youngstown Phantoms desire to continue to give back to the great people of the Youngstown area.
